About WST

Wessex Slate and Tile Roofing Services Ltd is a family business operating in Cornwall for over 50 years.  It was started by Peter Lewis with his wife Sheila and is now run by his son Richard who is the Managing Director and has a wealth of experience in the industry.

Our business is to provide a contracting service to supply and fix roofing / vertical slating, bespoke lead work, single ply flat roofing, Cedral cladding and timber cladding.  We employ in excess of 25 members of staff, and work with our clients on projects ranging from small extensions to large phased building developments in all parts of Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly.

Wessex Slate & Tile  are members of the (NFB) National Federation of Builders, SMAS (Safety Management Advisory Services) and have achieved the Investors in People Standard.   All our site staff hold CSCS cards and have passed relevant HSE assessments.

Richard joined the company after completing his education. He started at an apprentice level, working on site as a slater/tiler developing his practical roofing skills. Richard has progressed his way through the company to his present role as Managing Director. He is responsible for the day to day business operations.

Darren Hendra is our Contracts Manager overseeing the workforce on site and is also responsible for our Leadwork department. He is responsible for training staff in the latest leadwork procedures, whilst ensuring that the department carries out each contract to the very highest of standards.

Treve is our full time Senior Roofing Estimator and in charge of our Marley Eternit Cedral Lap & Click portfolio. He is also responsible for the purchasing of the majority of our materials.

Nick is our first point of contact at the office for all of our customers seeking quotes or information, whilst also looking after our administration.

Andy works in our busy estimating department, and also carries out many of the on-site deliveries with our lorry and hi-ab crane.
